Number of parliamentary seats to be contested: 650

The governing Labour Party is looking to secure a fourth consecutive term in office

The Conservative Party is seeking to return to Government

The Liberal Democrats hope to form a government or have influence in a hung parliament.

The Scottish National Party, hoping to be in a balance of power position.

Plaid Cymru is seeking gains in Wales

Smaller parties include: United Kingdom Independence Party, Green Party, British National Party
